Added
- First-run onboarding with four welcome slides covering capture, DOM-and-mouse replay, QA-to-Dev artifact sharing, and entering the workspace. Completion is remembered locally. (
c04847c) - A 14-step guided workspace tour across Dashboard, Capture, Artifacts, Replay, and Editor. Users can skip with Stop, the close button, or Escape; completion and skipping are saved locally. (
d6f714d) - Dashboard
.dawgarchive import and latest-artifact shortcuts for Replay and Edit review. (d6f714d)
Changed
- Artifacts search supports Enter to inspect the first match, with more readable catalog metadata and inspector details for added time and instance ID. (
d6f714d) - Replay search includes
instanceId; Enter selects the first match without running replay. Run Replay remains a separate action. (d6f714d) - Refreshed controls, cards, dialogs, page layouts, settings, logs, and empty states provide a more consistent workspace. This is a UI refresh, not a change to engine capture or replay algorithms. (
224bddf) - Improved onboarding keyboard focus and Editor artifact-selection layout. (
d6f714d) - Simplified Replay search handling and refined Dashboard illustrations and active Editor controls. (
fbe31df) - Current website metadata, navigation, download links, and documentation identify
0.4.3-omega, Desktop0.4.3, and tagomega-3. The capture extension remains0.3.5_middlechild.
Fixed
- Fixed an intermittent replay subprocess-output handling error that could report a failure after the browser process exited successfully. Replay now drains stdout and stderr before completing process cleanup.
Removed
- Removed the placeholder Diff & Verify page from Desktop navigation. CLI verification remains available through
dawg verify.
Compatibility
- Capture still requires a Chromium-based desktop browser version 116 or newer; Firefox and Safari recording are not supported.
- Replay and review continue to use the bundled Playwright Chromium runtime.
0.4.2-omega - 2026-10-01

Changed
- Desktop Capture now displays a prominent compatibility notice that recording currently supports Chromium-based desktop browsers only.
- The obsolete replay sandbox status UI has been removed from Desktop while replay execution and controls remain available.
- Website installation guidance and the main project documentation now state the current browser-recording boundary explicitly.
- New artifacts use the explicit
v0.4.2-omegaschema while all previously supported schemas remain readable. - Application, Desktop, website metadata, and release downloads now identify
0.4.2-omega, Desktop0.4.2, and tagomega-2. - The capture extension remains display version
0.3.5_middlechild; no extension update is required.
Compatibility
- Recording requires Chrome, Edge, or another Chromium-based desktop browser version 116 or newer.
- Firefox and Safari recording are not supported in this release.
- Replay and review continue to use the bundled Playwright Chromium runtime.

Added
- A dedicated Artifacts page for catalog search, origin and review filtering, inspection, replay, editing, import/export, revision history, and confirmed safe local deletion.
- A Chromium-hosted Editor for portable point and range flags with titles, notes, categories, severities, keyboard adjustment, local drafts, and non-destructive revision publication.
- A review timeline that distinguishes blue point markers from purple range bands, shows drag handles only for the selected flag, supports short-range hit targets, and provides immediate delete with Undo.
- Custom saved-artifact names, with the default
<source title> review <revision>, plus an in-Chromium confirmation once the Engine has actually published the new artifact. - Replay flag lists, timeline markers, click-to-seek, previous/next navigation, selected-flag playback, and Review flags only mode.
- Dashboard summaries with one latest-added local artifact and counts for local captures, imported artifacts, flagged artifacts, diagnostics, and Doctor compatibility.
- Explicit Doctor compatibility reporting for the labeled Engine/application version and numeric Desktop version.
Changed
- Acquisition origin and portable review state are independent, so an artifact can be both Imported and Flagged.
- The local catalog uses instance-based identity, allowing duplicate copies of one artifact digest to be managed independently.
- Save draft stores validated review flags locally for the selected source artifact; Save artifact publishes a named immutable artifact revision and clears its draft.
- Replay and Editor fit the fixed recorded viewport into the available space once, while an unused review panel no longer consumes replay width.
- New artifacts use the explicit
v0.4.1-omegaschema while previous supported schemas remain readable. - The capture extension remains display version
0.3.5_middlechildbecause Omega does not change extension source.
Fixed
- Closing Chromium or using Stop Replay / Stop Editor now releases the interactive-process reservation before another interactive window can launch.
- Valid numeric point and range offsets are accepted by the generated Editor client, with field-specific validation feedback.
- Saving review revisions accepts rrweb JSONL records up to the shared 16 MiB limit instead of failing with Go's default scanner
token too longerror. - Empty Editor selections hide the flag form and disable draft/artifact save actions; externally discarded flags cannot be restored by a stale Undo action.
Compatibility and privacy
- Flagged
0.4.1-omegaartifacts require an Engine that supports the Omega review schema; supported older artifacts remain readable. - Flag titles, notes, and saved artifact names are portable artifact content and must be reviewed before sharing.
- Flags guide replay navigation only; they do not delete captured evidence or alter rrweb state.
Middlechild family — 0.3.x
0.3.5-middlechild - 2026-09-24
Desktop: 0.3.5 · Extension display version: 0.3.5_middlechild

Added
- Desktop replay controls now stay synchronized with the authoritative rrweb player in Chromium through a versioned bidirectional protocol.
- Console, error, and network evidence appears at its literal replay time, including request, first-byte, and completion stages, with an All captured fallback.
- Artifacts retain a sanitized browser device profile covering available browser/OS hints, viewport, screen, locale, timezone, hardware capacity, connection hints, page URL, and user agent; Replay exposes it in a dedicated Device tab.
- Prominent tag-specific Windows and Linux downloads are available from the homepage.
- GitHub Sponsors links are available in the website navigation/footer and Desktop open-source card.
Fixed
- MV3 worker restarts preserve the private capture token and wait for state restoration before forwarding rrweb events.
- Capture startup now fails when rrweb is unavailable instead of publishing an empty recording.
- Packaging rejects replay traces without events, valid timestamps, or a FullSnapshot.
- The Desktop Timeline tab reads the packaged diagnostic timeline instead of looking for unavailable manifest summary fields.
Changed
- The extension capture panel is status-only; captures stop from Desktop or CLI so pending events drain before packaging.
- Browser-restricted MAC, hostname, and reliable IP values are represented as unavailable; capture does not call an external discovery service.
- New artifacts use the explicit
v0.3.5-middlechildschema while previous supported schemas remain readable.

- Exported
.dawgartifacts now register as DAWG Artifact documents in desktop bundles, using the DAWG paw application icon. - Double-clicking an associated
.dawgarchive opens DAWG and imports it through the existing validated import flow.
Changed
- New artifacts use the explicit
v0.3.3-middlechildmanifest schema; existing supported artifact schemas remain readable.

Fixed
- Large rrweb events no longer fail diagnostic timeline extraction because of Go's default scanner token limit.
- Diagnostic record streams are no longer limited by the retained-body file-size limit.
- Oversized replay traces omit only optional timeline correlation; diagnostic inspection, HAR export, and cURL export remain available.
- HTTP verification now records response-comparison failures instead of silently omitting the check.
Changed
- Capture, sanitization, diagnostic packaging, and HTTP verification now share a 16 MiB JSONL record limit.
- Diagnostic-layer decompression is bounded before data is retained in memory.
- New artifacts use the explicit
v0.3.2-middlechildmanifest schema; previous supported artifact schemas remain readable.

- Consented Enhanced Diagnostics capture using CDP for console APIs, exceptions, and network evidence
- Eligible Enhanced CDP response-body retention for JSON, GraphQL, form-encoded, and text content, bounded by content type, record count, per-body size, aggregate-body size, layer size, and concurrent retrieval limits
- Explicit diagnostic evidence states:

- Approximate diagnostic-to-rrweb correlation and Desktop seeking for an active interactive replay when the record timestamp falls within the retained rrweb range
Changed
- Sanitization now covers retained diagnostic console, network, error, and body evidence before packaging
- Enhanced CDP attach failures fall back to Safe and capture degradations are retained as diagnostic errors
- Enhanced capture attaches Chrome's debugger before rrweb takes its initial full snapshot, so captures use the viewport after Chrome applies its debugger infobar
dawg doctorderivesschema:manifestfrom the current schema constant and now reports0.3.1-middlechild- Version synchronization distinguishes the application/artifact schema (
0.3.1-middlechild), Desktop (0.3.1), and extension display version (0.3.1_middlechild)
Privacy and fidelity boundaries
- Safe capture does not retrieve response bodies through CDP
- Enhanced capture retains only eligible bounded body content; unavailable, blocked, truncated, or failed content remains represented by its evidence state
- Removing a retained body rewrites its matching network reference to
unavailable; DAWG never recreates removed content - A reviewed artifact has recomputed OCI descriptors and logical identity. Source provenance is not carried over to modified evidence
- Replay correlation is approximate and only appears for in-range timestamps; records without a valid correlation do not expose a seek action
- Replay continues to render the rrweb recording rather than re-executing captured actions or restoring the original application runtime
Compatibility
- Existing
0.2.3-naughty,0.2.5-naughty, and0.2.7-naughtyartifacts remain supported for inspect, import/export, and replay. They return empty diagnostics where no evidence layers exist.
